OSTA, a Brussels-based organization, was founded by Jennifer Dubrulle who is also its Chief Animal Officer. She has a comprehensive understanding of animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and animal rights.  The organization’s vision is to evolve into a diverse group of team members who resonate with animals and demonstrate competence in their respective fields.

Our Advisory Board is a blend of idealism, practicality, and financial savvy. The board, including Geert Creemers, Franciska Devloo, Nuala Harnett, Ji Li, Anne Sevellec, and Jingjing Wu offer a balanced skill set. It ranges from project and business development to digital strategies, academia, public relations, and technology. Many of our board members are also guided by a spiritual awareness that informs their perspectives.

At OSTA, we are actively seeking individuals to join our team and help to achieve the vision of our Advisory Board and Chief Animal Officer, thereby strengthening our team’s capabilities. To learn more or express interest in joining, click on the “Get Involved” button in the top right corner of the website, in the navigation. We are also open to collaborations with consultants and experts in relevant fields.

The primary goals for the inaugural year include enhancing OSTA’s visibility, growing the community, deepening understanding of animal perspectives, refining the organizational structure, and forming strategic partnerships.

  • Enhancing Public Visibility: The proposed strategies for enhancing public visibility include the launch of the OSTA website, the distribution of brochures, and particpation at festivals. In addition, OSTA plans to collaborate with media outlets, alongside a presence on social media platforms like Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Community Growth: Our goal for community growth is to boost the collective strength of the OSTA community and raise the count of human members and animal participants.
  • Understanding Animal Perspectives: Our objective is to enhance our knowledge of the needs and challenges confronting animal populations in the Flemish, Brussels, and Walloon regions of Belgium and beyond.
  • Refining Organizational Structure: Improvements to the organizational structure will be driven by member and Advisory Board feedback. The Board also anticipates soliciting opinions from newsletter subscribers, with plans to review and implement necessary improvements once the subscriber count reaches 1.000.
  • Establishing Strategic Partnerships: Identifying potential partnerships will be a key priority, with organizations such as Natuurcollege, Love Button Global Movement, and De Zonnegloed, which share OSTA’s mission.

These 2024 objectives and long-term objectives were discussed in the inaugural meeting of OSTA. The summary of this meeting is included in the “What’s New” tab on the website with the title of the article: “Laying the Foundation: OSTA’s First Advisory Board Meeting, May 1, 2024”.

OSTA’s long-term objectives are primarily focused on serving animals, promoting community engagement, and deepening the human-animal connection.
